Pretty sure you can convert the YouTube video to an mp3 - though it might be too long. Speaking of which, this interview is way too long - and I am not a fan of the band but that's not the point:
I listened to some of this but he has nothing original to say that isn't being said by more Interesting people in a more humble way who don't need two plus hours to talk about themselves, etc. ***There is no way this should be two plus hours - it should be forty minutes max. The interviewer is not prepared and it's just some Eton Brits ramble-babbling to one another as their Earl Grey tea gets cold***
It's all good - he's just not an interesting example to me. I'd much rather hear Noel Gallagher be interviewed as he's a blue collar populist and can make his points - the one 1975 is ambling towards in a good twenty minutes - plus he knows it's all BS and can make us laugh - But 2.5 hours - That's unfair.
insanely great interview articulating the current media/pop culture/internet landscape and how important it is to be rethinking our online engagement in these institutional/algorithmic spaces
I really enjoyed the interview. Especially the discussions around social media, irony/sincerity, and communicating non-didactically through art/music as opposed to didactic communication in academic settings. I'm curious if you've ever come across Hans-Georg Moeller's "Carefree Wandering" youtube channel? He discusses many of these topics with some slightly different framing on irony/sincerity introducing a third phenomena of "profilicity" in the social media age. I kept imagining certain spots in the conversation where I would have loved to hear his insight. Thanks for making these!
So much to unpack!!! This is so great! I am more than halfway through in one sitting but needed to stop and come to find you here so that I can read your syllabus! back to the video I go!
Is there gonna be an audio version of this that I listen to while having my phone screen off?
